Hooning arrest Alice Springs

Police

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly being caught hooning on Sunday night.

The man allegedly drove his Mitsubishi Triton utility onto the lawns of the Royal Flying Doctors Service on Sturt Terrace just before 8pm . He then proceeded to do a number of “donuts” on the grass and gravel surfaces before a marked police car activated its lights and sirens and drove towards the offender. The man then  sped away from police until he was apprehended on the corner of Hartley Street and Stott Terrace.

The man underwent a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken to the Watchhouse where he was found to have a blood alcohol level of .092 per cent.

The man has been charged with driving with a medium range blood alcohol content, failing to obey a police signal and doing burn-outs.

His vehicle was impounded for 48 hours and he has been bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court  tomorrow (Aug 30).
