Police yesterday arrested a 40-year-old man as part of a joint agency operation involving New South Wales and General Crime Detectives.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said that this was a great result for both jurisdictions.

“The offender is alleged to have been involved in a glassing incident in NSW in 2008,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“He fled the state in 2010 before he was to appear in court. An arrest warrant was issued however he had been actively avoiding Police for over 18 months, moving to the Territory and assuming a new identity.

“Working together with the NSW Detectives, we located and arrested the alleged offender at a residence in Jingili yesterday morning.

“He appeared in court yesterday and is to be extradited back to NSW today, to appear in the Waverly Local Court on Friday 16 September 2011.
