Kava Seizure - Emu Springs Outstation

Approximately $233,550 worth of kava has been seized by Bulman Police following a vehicle apprehension yesterday morning. Police apprehended a vehicle at Emu Springs Outstation, approx 92 km's North East of Bulman on the Central Arnhem Hwy. The search yielded a commercial quantity of kava. In total, 166.30 kilograms of kava was located, concealed in luggage in the rear of the vehicle. The kava was distributed amongst 9,342 deal bags. Six alleged offenders have been arrested, four from Milingimbi, one from Ramingining and one from Beswick. The offenders have been charged with the following offences; Possession of a commercial quantity of kava Supply a commercial quantity of kava without a licence "Despite wet season road closures this seizure demonstrates that Police are active throughout the Top End and will continue to remain vigilant, targeting Kava and Cannabis traffickers. I encourage all community members to report these drug dealers to the police and keep drugs out of your communities" said Superintendent Colin Smith, Arnhem Operational Service Division.
