Mining equipment stolen -Tennant Creek

Police

Tennant Creek police are investigating the theft of more than $20,000 worth of mining equipment from a Dolomite mining lease east of Tennant Creek.

The lease owner discovered the theft on Monday after not having visited the site for six months.

Constable David O’Riordan said police forensic crews had attended and processed the scene.

“It appears the offenders have dismantled the machine using an oxy-acetylene welding torch and other various tools. They then transported the parts,  which include a shaker, tumbler and sorter set-up, from the scene using a utility or truck,” Const O’Riordan said.

“Although the owner hasn’t been to the Weaber Road site for six months or so, we have reason to believe that the thefts are relatively recent, so we’re appealing to anyone who has information about the incident to phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
