Missing woman –Alice Springs

Police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a woman who has been missing since about February 16.

Elizabeth Kleingelf-McMahon, 48, arrived in Alice Springs on Tuesday February 15 after a Qantas flight from Cairns to Darwin was diverted to Alice Springs due to bad weather. The woman booked into the Alice in the Territory hotel in Stephens Road and was expected to remain there until Qantas was able to rebook her flight to Darwin once conditions improved. However, the woman checked out of her accommodation the next day telling staff she was staying with a female friend.

Police received a report she was next seen at Lasseter's Casino around 4pm on February 22.

Superintendent Michael Murphy said police were concerned for the woman's welfare and are hoping someone may recognize her photo.

"We have serious concerns for her welfare as her family have advised us she has medical issues and appears to have left her medication along with her luggage at the hotel.

"We are appealing to anyone who may recognize the woman from the photo to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."

Ms Kleingelf-McMahon (known as Izzy) is described as being of Aboriginal appearance approximate 155cm tall, 55 kgs with a medium build. She has dark brown shoulder length hair and walks with a limp. She also has a number of missing front teeth.


NB: Missing person is believed to now have shorter hair than in the photo
