A 35-year-old man was arrested after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in Alice Springs overnight.

Police were called to Woods Terrace in Braitling just after 1am after residents reported a disturbance. When they arrived they found a 27-year-old woman who told police she had been sexually assaulted. The woman was taken to hospital and police arrested the alleged offender who was located nearby.

He is expected to be interviewed today.

Police are calling for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assault to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
