Sly grog -alert Alice Springs

Police

Police are appealing to members of the public to report any suspicious activity in the Gillen area after reports of illegal alcohol sales.

Senior Sergeant Peter Dash said Police intelligence reports had led to an investigation into suspicious activity in the vicinity of Carruthers Crescent and Purvis Crescent.

“Our information is that a person is selling alcohol illegally from premises in the area. This type of activity usually means that vulnerable people are being targeted and taken advantage of under these circumstances,” Sen Sgt Dash said.

“The grog is usually sold at grossly inflated prices to those who are desperate to procure it.

“Not only is this type of behaviour patently exploitative, but it is also illegal, and in accordance with NT Police’s harm minimisation strategy, we are determined to put a stop to it whenever and wherever it occurs.,” Sen Sgt Dash said.

“That is why we’re appealing to anyone in the area who may have noticed suspicious behaviour which could be tied to the illegal sale of alcohol to come forward.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
