Stolen Car – Palmerston

Police

Police again urge all Territory residents to lock up their belongings following a vehicle theft that occurred in Palmerston last night.

It is believed that at around 8:30pm a 48-year-old woman stopped her Holden Barina outside a residence on Baldwin Drive in Woodroffe.

The woman left her vehicle running and went inside quickly, however returned to discover her vehicle had been stolen.

After conducting extensive patrols of the area, members received information stating that four males, all aged in their late teens to early 20’s, were witnessed stealing the vehicle and driving off towards Sibbald Crescent.

One of the males is described to be of Caucasian appearance, slim build, tall and wearing a white t-shirt. The other three males were described to be of Aboriginal appearance.

Police urge anyone that may have seen the white Holden Barina with NT number plate 947108 to contact them on 131 444.

Officer in Charge of Palmerston Police, Senior Sergeant Jenkinson said it is an offence to leave a motor vehicle running whilst unattended.

“Opportunistic thieves only need a brief moment to take advantage of a situation,” said Senior Sergeant Jenkinson.

“Lock your homes and vehicles and take your keys out of the ignition, even if you are only going to be a few seconds.”

Anyone that may witness suspicious activity around homes or vehicles are urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
