Strike Force Nemesis

Police

24 hours into a specialist taskforce operation, Northern Territory Police have arrested six people, recovered drugs and seized property allegedly obtained by deception.

Launched yesterday, Strike Force Nemesis will target Darwin and Palmerston’s most prolific property crime and drug offender hotspots for the next eight weeks.

Utilising intelligence-led strategies, the taskforce will be made up of officers from the Drug and Organised Crime Section, Tactical Teams and the Territory Intelligence Division.

Acting Commander James O’Brien says “Drug addiction is often linked to violent crime, property crime and anti-social behaviour.”

“Strike Force Nemesis has been established to create a co-ordinated response to drug related property crime.”

“Already Strike Force Nemesis has yielded encouraging results with cash, amphetamine, cannabis, stolen laptops, a crossbow, firearm and clothing being recovered.” Said Acting Commander O’Brien.

“It’s also a timely reminder for residents to remember the ‘Lock it or Lose it’ message and ensure valuables aren’t left in sight of would-be thieves in their house or car.” He said.

NB: A press conference displaying some of the seized items and an interview opportunity will be held at the Media Conference Room at PMC at 1500.
