Detectives from the General Crime Section are calling for public assistance in relation to a suspicious fire in Darwin City last night.

Police and Fire and Rescue received the report of a structure fire on Woods Street at 7:44 pm.

The fire was contained to the standalone unit and extinguished by Fire and Rescue members.

The unit was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Police urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area, or who may have any information in relation to the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
