Suspicious Death - Katherine - Update #4

Major Crime and Northern Investigation Section Detectives in Katherine are continuing with investigations in an attempt unravel the circumstances leading up to the death of Katherine man, Ray Niceforo.

Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys from the Major Crime Section said extensive searches have been undertaken by the Territory Response Group in and around Katherine in an attempt to locate weapons that are known by Detectives to have been used in the murder.

“Police are looking for a baseball bat, sprayed painted black, that is known to have been taken to the house of Mr Niceforo on the night of his murder.

“We are also looking a 50 cm long crescent headed spanner with a speed ratchet head, this type of spanner is used in the maintenance of heavy machinery.

“The circumstances of the murder of Mr Niceforo are such that we believe other parties have assisted those already arrested to organise and dispose of the weapons used.

"Inquiries will remain on going to identify these people and bring them to justice, we anticipate further arrests.

“The public, particularly those in Katherine, are urged to come forward and speak with Police if they have any information regarding this murder,” said Detective Sergeant Henrys.
