Northern Territory Police are calling for public assistance to identify a potential witness, after a woman was murdered in Nhulunbuy last week.

Additional Major Crime Detectives are travelling to the scene tomorrow, where a 38-year-old woman was killed in the early hours of Thursday the 6th of January.

Police want to speak with a Caucasian male wearing a striped T shirt, who is believed to have been in the Nhulunbuy town area around 1:00 am on Thursday. Police are calling for that man or anyone who is able to identify that man to contact police.

Nhulunbuy residents who were in the area between Thunderman Road and the western end of Chesterfield Circuit who witnessed or heard anything suspicious are urged to contact Nhulunbuy Police on 89871333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
