Two arrested for Pill Press Find - Winnellie

Police

Two men aged 25 and 47 were arrested in relation to drug offences detected in Winnellie on Saturday morning.

Members from the Drug and Organised Crime Section conducted a search on a business premises on Winnellie Road at around 9:00 am. The officers found a purpose built hydraulic pill press, a quantity of Methamphetamine/MDMA powder and a number of pills.

Superintendent Matt Hollamby of the Drug and Specialist Crime Division said that it was a great result.

“It is extremely dangerous when you get back yard chemists making their own drugs and selling them to people. We’ve been working hard to protect people in the community from this type of drug related behaviour,” said Superintendent Hollamby.

“The 25-year-old male was located outside the residence and Police located a quantity of pills on him. The 47-year-old male was located hiding under a vehicle at the location.”

Both have been charged with manufacture/possess/supply dangerous drug – schedule 2 – commercial quantity and will appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court today.
