Vehicle Registration Campaign

Police

Alice Springs' police have launched a public awareness campaign targeting vehicle registration.

A lapse in vehicle registration has been identified as an issue in Alice Springs.

Over the next two days officers will be conducting foot patrols of public places, and when unregistered cars are identified, they will issue a reminder notice to ensure vehicle owners get their cars re-registered.

"We're not looking to fine people on the spot". Said Sergeant Conan Robertson.

"Police realise that sometimes people change address, or paying the car registration simply slips people's minds."

"We're not in the business of revenue raising; and police believe by issuing a gentle reminder, motorists of Alice Springs will do the right thing and get their vehicle registered."
