Police are seeking witnesses in relation to an assault that occurred on Saturday 26 February.

It was reported that a 33-year-old was walking along Knuckey Street near the corner of Smith Street at around 4:15 am when he was approached by a male and assaulted.

The victim received a severe concussion and minor injuries.

The offender was described to be of Aboriginal appearance, solid build and approximately 180 cm's tall.

Police urge anyone that may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 131 444.
