"Enough is Enough" - Commander Michael Murphy

Police

Northern Territory Police will continue to address anti-social behaviour, violence and property crime in Alice Springs.

After successful campaigns over the Christmas/New Year period, a small element of the community continues to commit offences that are unacceptable to the public and business operators.

“The Police, public and business owners alike are sick and tired of people who continually have little or no regard for the law.” said Southern Police Commander Michael Murphy.

“Recently Alice Springs has experienced a death, serious assaults and an unprovoked attack on a teenage girl.”

“Crime such as house and vehicle break-ins, property damage and mindless vandalism also continues to impact the community and ruin the reputation of a town the majority of residents are so passionate about.”

“It must stop and it will.” said Commander Murphy.

“Operation Eagle 1, consisting of TRG, Detectives, uniformed officers and members of the Dog Operations Unit from Darwin will bolster our resources in Alice Springs and focus on prevention, reduction and action through high visibility and targeted patrolling.”

“Enough is enough.  Our team will take action on the unacceptable behaviour of others. I will not allow Alice Springs to be adversely affected by anti-social behaviour, violence and property crime. People who commit these crimes will face the court for their actions”

“Our team are committed to keeping people safe.”
