Fatal Crash - Coconut Grove

Police

A man has died following a two car crash in Coconut Grove overnight.

Police received a report around 10.40pm that two vehicles had collided at the intersection of Bagot Road and Osgood Road, near Bunnings.

“Paramedics in a passing ambulance witnessed the crash as it happened and responded immediately,” said Watch Commander Shaun Furniss.

“Despite the immediate response, the driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.  All other occupants have been transported to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

"Major Crash investigators are currently on site processing the scene.

Police, Northern Territory Fire and Rescue and volunteers from NT Emergency Service all responded to the incident.

“Major Crash investigators will work through the night to determine the exact cause of the crash. It is unclear at this stage how long the inbound lane of Bagot Road will remain closed,” concluded Senior Sergeant Furniss.

This brings the road toll to 40 compared to 32 at the same time last year.
