A young man has died following a single vehicle rollover on the Stuart Highway, approximately 35 kilometres north of the Erldunda Road House, this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Michael Schumacher from the Alice Springs Major Crash Investigation Unit said Police received the report shortly before 1:00pm.

“Members from Kulgera Police Station, Alice Springs Fire and Rescue, St John Ambulance and staff from the Imanpa clinic are in attendance at the scene,” said Detective Sergeant Schumacher.

“It appears there were four people travelling in the vehicle at the time of the crash. As a result, one male has died at the scene, two occupants have been injured and a fourth person received minor injuries.

“Occupants of the vehicle are currently being medevaced to Alice Springs for further assessment and treatment.”

Members from the Major Crash Investigation Unit will commence investigations into the cause of the crash. There is no further information available at this time.

The Territory road toll now stands at 38 compared to 32 for the same period last year.
