The NT road toll now stands at 39 following a fatal single vehicle rollover near Kalkaringi early this morning.

Sergeant Greg Huddle from Kalkaringi Police Station said the incident was reported to Police at around 2:00am by passers-by.

“It appears a number of occupants were travelling in a 4x4 along the Darguargu Access Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll,” Sergeant Huddle said.

“Police, NT Emergency Service Volunteers and local health clinic staff attended and located a 14-year-old girl deceased at the scene.

“Two passengers have been flown to Royal Darwin Hospital.

“Police from Northern Traffic Operations are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.”

At this time last year, the NT road toll stood at 32.
