A 29-year-old man has been taken into Police custody in relation to a fatal shooting.

Police were called to a block of units on Essington Avenue in Gray, just before 3pm.

“On route, Officers were waived down by a passing vehicle transporting the victim to hospital.” Said Commander Kate Vanderlaan

“A 25-year-old man had received a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.”

“TRG members searched the area and located the alleged offender in the nearby suburb of Woodroffe.”

“Once again the Northern Territory Police Force has brought a potentially violent situation to an end without further conflict.” Said Cmdr Vanderlaan.

“Residents of the affected suburbs and temporary road closures are also thanked for their patience.”

"The alleged offender will be interviewed and investigations are continuing." Said Cmdr Vanderlaan
