A 39-year-old will face the Darwin Magistrates Court this morning after he was charged with possessing child abuse material.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Neil Hayes said a search warrant executed at the man’s rural residence uncovered child abuse material.

“Northern Territory Police Sex Crimes Detectives arrested the man on Friday after a search of his Herbert home found child abuse material,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Hayes said.

“Police seized a number of laptops and data storage devices.

“The man was charged with possess child abuse material.

“Every image of this nature represents a child being exploited and the Northern Territory Police will remain committed to the investigation of online offending.”

The man was remanded in custody until this morning.
