Hidden Camera Located Katherine Hot Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police would like members of the public who used the Katherine Hot Springs earlier this month to contact them following the discovery of a hidden camera in the shower block.

Detective Senior Constable Paul Lawson said a tourist alerted Police to the presence of the camera in the unisex shower block.

“Police conducted a search of all public amenities to ensure there were not more of these devices hidden,” Detection Senior Constable Lawson said.

“Police executed a search warrant on Sunday resulting in a 23-year-old man being identified as a person of interest.

“Multiple items were seized during the search warrant including computers and storage devices.

“The man identified as the person who allegedly placed the camera in the shower block is assisting Police with their enquiries.

“This type of offending is of great concern to Police and the community as it is a serious invasion of people’s privacy.

“We are asking anyone who utilised the shower block between Wednesday 6 June and Saturday 9 June to contact Police.

“If you think you may have utilised this shower block during this time, or you have any information that may assist this investigation, please contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
