Indecent assault – Alice Springs - Update

Police

Police continue to call for public assistance in relation to the alleged indecent assault of a seven-year-old girl in Larapinta yesterday morning.

Superintendent Brent Warren said an extensive investigation is underway and Investigators are using all available resources, including forensic testing, to apprehend the alleged offender.

“At approximately 11:00 am yesterday, a young girl was approached by a male in the alleyway between Holtermann Court and a causeway near Lyndavale Drive,” said Superintendent Brent Warren.

“It is alleged the male rode up to the girl and offered her a lollie, to which the girl declined. It is alleged the man then wrestled a pot the girl was carrying, out of her hands, before covering her eyes and mouth with his hand, while exposing himself as he tried to pull her onto his bike.

“The girl has managed to fight off the man and run towards Lyndavale Drive, where a witness came to her aid and called Police. The man was last seen riding in the direction of Holtermann Court.

“The alleged offender is described as being a male of Aboriginal appearance, mid to late teens, clean shaven with short dark hair with blonde tips in the front and a thin blonde platted ‘rats tail’ of shoulder length.

“He was wearing a black t-shirt with large white bubble type motif/writing, black knee length shorts with a blue and white stripe pattern and black shoes with black laces and white on the front.

“He was riding a silver mountain bike with blue, white and black colouring.”

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area or anyone that may have further information to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
