Katherine Detectives have today charged an 18-year-old man with murder following the death of a man late last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clinton Sims of the Northern Investigations Section said the offender was charged with the murder of a 33-year-old man.

“Police were called to Carramar Flats in Katherine South at about 10pm last night following a disturbance between the victim and the offender,” said Senior Sergeant Sims.

“Police attended the scene and discovered the man unconscious and suffering severe head injuries. It is alleged that the weapon used was a hammer.

“First aid was applied at the scene by Police and the victim’s family, however, the man was unable to be revived.

“The offender was sighted by Police and arrested shortly after the incident occurred.”
