Tennant Creek Police will complete Operation Cowboy this week which targeted property crime in the town.

Extra patrols of known hot spots with the aim of gaining intelligence into break-ins and anti-social behaviour has resulted in three arrests and five summons during the eleven day operation.

Police however have been disappointed in the amount of properties unlawfully entered that had poor or non existent security.

“Many of our reported home break-ins are occurring and re-occurring at premises with unsecured outdoor fridges and unlocked doors and windows.”  Said Constable Colin Jenkinson of the Tennant Creek Police.

“Many of these crimes are opportunistic and Tennant Creek residents are urged to secure their premises.”

Operation Cowboy ends on Friday.
