Operation Jawa

Police

Police made six arrests and tipped out 213 litres of liquor in Tennant Creek on Friday and Saturday nights in an attempt to combat anti-social behaviour and alcohol fuelled crime.

Senior Sergeant Des Green, Officer in Charge, said a large contingent of Police engaged in bike, foot and vehicle patrols throughout the community.

“Officers apprehended 24 intoxicated people who were placed into protective custody,” Senior Sergeant Green said.

“Operation Jawa is an ongoing initiative that will see Tennant Creek Police continue to adopt a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour and alcohol fuelled crime.

“Police responded to the large influx of visitors to the community over the weekend and sent a clear message that alcohol fuelled offending would not be tolerated.

“Tennant Creek members worked hard to target those who were doing the wrong thing and will continue to do so in this ongoing operation.”
