Police are investigating the theft and fire of a vehicle which was located engulfed in flames in Holmes Jungle early this morning.

Senior Sergeant Roger Jeffrey said the vehicle was stolen from outside a residence on Leanyer Drive early on in the night.

“Police and Fire and Rescue members were called to the vicinity of Holmes Jungle at around midnight with reports of a small fire,” Senior Sergeant Jeffrey said.

“Upon attendance a Commodore station wagon was located fully engulfed in flames. Fire and Rescue members extinguished the blaze within a short time, however the vehicle was completely destroyed by the blaze.

“Investigations are continuing and Police urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour on Leanyer Drive near Savannah Drive between 11pm and 12:30am to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
