Surveillance Records Smile - Alice Springs

Police

Three youths have been arrested after being caught on surveillance camera attempting to breaking into a Taxi in Alice Springs.

About 4am yesterday, the two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old attempted to smash the driver’s window of the vehicle with rocks, but failed to gain entry.

“After trying to open the passenger door with a screwdriver, the boys realised their every move was being captured on the Taxi’s surveillance camera.” Said Sergeant Trent Abbott.

“The group then cut an external wire to the camera but sadly for them, their identities had already been recorded.” Said Sgt Abbott.

The youths have since been arrested and charged with Interfering with a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Damage.

All three will appear in the Youth Justice Court.
