A 40-year-old man is being held in Police custody in relation to the discovery of the bodies of two people inside a Coconut Grove unit last night.

Authorities were called to the unit block about 8 o’clock last night.

Upon arrival the bodies of an elderly man and woman were located in the lounge room of their Unit.

“Police can now confirm the victims were husband and wife.” Said Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Pollock.

“A 40-year-old man was arrested late last night in the city area and his vehicle has been seized. No charges have yet been laid as evidence continues to be collected as part of the investigation.”

“The investigation is being treated as a homicide case.”

“Police can confirm there were signs of violence and a struggle prior to the couple’s death. A post mortem will be held today to establish the cause of death.”

Enquiries are still being conducted in relation to notifying next of kin.
