Major Crime Detectives have tonight charged a 40-year-old man with two counts of Murder.
The bodies of a 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were discovered in the lounge room of their Coconut Grove unit about 8 o’clock last night.
Initial results from a post mortem examination suggest the couple suffered fatal stab wounds.
“Major Crime Detectives tonight charged the man with two counts of Murder.” Said Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys.
“I commend the investigative work of Officers involved in this case for working around the clock and securing this result in not much more that 24 hours.”
“The 40-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday the 9th of March.”
As the matter is now before the courts, no further comment will be made by the Northern Territory Police Force, however we thank the public for their assistance.
