Three arrested for unlawful entries – Alice Springs

Police

Police have charged three male youths aged from 15 to 16 in relation to an unlawful entry which occurred in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst of the Southern Investigations Division said it is alleged the three youths unlawfully entered a home on Lackman Terrace.

“It is alleged the three entered the home between 11pm Monday and 3am Tuesday by forcing open a rear door,” Detective Senior Sergeant Wurst said.

“The three stole a number of items including mobile phones, a set of car keys and the home owner’s Holden Captiva.

“The youths drove to McDonalds where they were sighted by Police. All three boys fled the scene on foot and two were located within a short time. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.  Both were charged with numerous offences and bailed to appear in court at a later date. The third male, a 16-year-old, was located later the same day and charged with:

Breach of bail (x3)
Aggravated assault (x3)
Stealing (x3)
Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x3)
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x2)
Unlawfully possess property.

“The youth was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Court today.

“Police take property crime very seriously and we will continue to actively target and apprehend offenders in order to keep the Alice Springs community safe.

“That said, I implore the public to take reasonable steps to secure their own property including locking their houses and not leaving the keys to vehicles in the ignition when the vehicle is unattended.”
