Pedestrian struck and killed - Moulden

The Territory road toll has climbed to 15 following the death of a male pedestrian in Palmerston last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant John Worrall of the Major Crash Investigation Section said it appears the man was sleeping on the road when the incident occurred.

“A 65-year-old male taxi driver was travelling along Kafcaloudes Crescent towards Moulden Terrace at around 8:30pm when the victim was struck,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Worrall said.

“Police, NT Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members attended. The man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital however passed away a short time later.

“Major Crash Investigators have attended the scene and continue to work to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.  The road has now been re-opened. 

“Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner.”

The road toll for the same time last year was 14.
