Fatal – Pedestrian Struck – Alice Springs

The NT road toll now stands at 20 following the death of a 57-year-old woman in Alice Springs last night.

Sergeant Michael Schumacher from the Alice Springs Major Crash Investigation Unit said early indications suggest the victim was lying on the outbound lane of Stott Terrace when she was struck by a sedan at around 7:30pm.

“The driver stopped to render assistance however the victim passed away at the scene,” Sergeant Schumacher said.

Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the event or who may have been near the salt bush area on Stott Terrace between Sadadeen Road and Undoolya Road around the time of the crash to contact Police on 131 444.

The road toll for the same time last year stood at 15.
