Fatal Crash - Central Australia

Police

The Northern Territory road toll has risen to two, following a single vehicle rollover last night which claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher of Major Crash Investigations said the crash occurred approximately 130km south east of Yuendumu on the Tanami Rd.

“Police from Yuendumu came across the incident at about 10:00pm last night. On arrival at the scene, police found one man deceased and another man in a serious condition,” Detective Schumacher said.

“In total, there were five male occupants of the vehicle and the driver is assisting police with their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police believe that alcohol and passengers not wearing seatbelts were factors in the crash.”

A file will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Territory road toll was zero at the same time last year.
