Northern Territory Police are calling for information following an alleged indecent assault in Katherine.

A male tourist was sleeping in his vehicle in a car park on the intersection of Railway Terrace and Victoria Highway when he was allegedly assaulted by another male around 2:30am today.

The offender is described as an Indigenous male, aged between 20 and 30, 175 centimetres tall with mid-length curly hair. He was wearing a black and red striped shirt and dark shorts.

A crime scene was established and has since been closed. Investigations continue.
