Call for information – Multiple assaults – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to multiple alleged assaults occurring in Alice Springs overnight.

Police are currently investigating multiple reports of alleged assaults which occurred overnight in the vicinity of Todd Street, Alice Springs CBD. Police are seeking public assistance from anyone who has information regarding incidents involving violence to come forward to assist with enquiries. Victims’ who have not provided statements are also urged to contact police to arrange this.

Any instances of violence or threats of violence towards a person should immediately be reported to police. Suspicious activity which causes public concern should also be reported.

Police want to reassure the community that these incidents are actively being investigated and additional patrols are being conducted within the Alice Springs CBD.

Superintendent Pauline Vicary said, “It’s truly concerning that there is a group of young people in our community who are participating in these activities that are causing harm to others in our community, it is not acceptable and Police will continue to take action to identify these offenders and take appropriate action. We need our Community to assist us - families to take responsibility for their children, know where they are, who they are with and what they are doing and community members to report incidents to police and be prepared to make a statement of complaint, it is much hard for us to take action without these statements. Help us to help you”.

Anyone with information in relation to these incidents, or knowledge of the identity of persons involved, is urged to notify police on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
