Local fire fighters to lend a hand

Fire and Rescue

Two Northern Territory fire fighters have been deployed interstate to provide relief to local fire crews currently battling bush fires raging across New South Wales.

Alice Springs Station Officer Stephen Hunter and Darwin Senior Station Officer Brendon Magnoli travelled from Alice Springs to Glen Innes to provide relief and support in the Incident Management Team in the
NSW Rural Fire Service.

A total of 38 fires continue to burn across the state and Station Officer Hunter and Senior Station Officer Magnoli will assist with the operations and planning side in managing the 500 firefighters currently on the ground.

SO Hunter and SSO Magnoli put their hand up to help when the Rural Fire Service appealed to the national resource sharing council for support from interstate fire fighters who were equipped with experience and qualifications including the nationally recognised AIIMS training.

The two will work within the Incident Management Team in the NSW Rural Fire Service for the next five days and provide support to those fighting fires which have been burning for the past five weeks.
