Strike Force Turnbull targets property crime in Tennant Creek

Police

Property related crime and offences are being targeted by a new strike force of Northern Territory Police in Tennant Creek.

Strike Force Turnbull, which started on Monday, will draw on members from across the Territory to combat the significant spike of property related crime and offending in the regional town.

Superintendent Kylie Anderson said the team would provide an increased police presence within the community with additional foot, bike and mounted patrols throughout its duration.

“The Strike Force Turnbull team are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend offenders in order to give residents peace of mind and an enhanced sense of safety and security,” said Supt Anderson

“Already members of the Strike Force Turnbull team have arrested and charged a 19-year-old man in relation to a robbery which occurred in Tennant Creek earlier this month and a second man was arrested for an alleged breach of a Domestic Violence Order.”

“What we are seeing is a small group of offenders who show no respect or appreciation for other peoples’ property. We will continue working in partnership with our community in order to hold these people to account for their actions.”

“Tennant Creek is a great place to live, work and visit. By working together as a community we can make it even better.”
