Northern Territory Police have arrested a 30-year-old male following an alleged assault of a woman on Thursday 18 June 2020.

At around 4:00pm, the pair were on Lucy Street when an argument begun and the male assaulted the 27-year-old woman.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her head. A nearby resident provided help and conveyed the woman to Katherine Hospital.

The offender was later identified and arrested by police. He has been charged with;

• unlawfully cause serious harm
• controlled weapon in public. 

He is due to appear in Katherine Local Court today.
