Arrest - Assault with the intent to steal - Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 14-year-old male following the alleged assault with intent to steal on a taxi driver that occurred in Casuarina last week.

At around midnight on Friday 3 July 2020, a taxi driver picked up four male passengers in Malak, taking them to a service station on Vanderlin Drive in Casuarina, and then returning them to a residence on Malak Crescent in Malak.

Upon arrival at the destination, one passenger allegedly assaulted the taxi driver and attempted to steal money before fleeing the scene.

Police were able to identify the alleged offender with CCTV footage and later arrested the 14-year-old.

He has been charged with assault with intent to steal and damage property.
