Arrest - Attempted robbery - Katherine

Northern Territory Police have charged two males for an alleged attempted robbery and unlawful entry in Katherine on Tuesday night.

At around 10:15pm on Tuesday, 4 February 2020, two males attended a Katherine business and threatened an employee with a weapon. The males demanded money before smashing a window.  An alarm was activated and police patrols attended.

Later that night, the two males unlawfully entered another business premises in Katherine South, where money, food and alcohol was stolen.

Katherine uniformed police officers arrested these two males early on Wednesday, 5 February 2020.  Detectives from the Northern Investigations Section joined the investigation into these alleged offences.

Detectives charged a 22-year-old man from Katherine with:

  • Attempted Robbery;
  • Unlawful Entry;
  • Damage to Property; and
  • Stealing.

This man was remanded in custody and will appear at the Katherine Local Court today.

The second male, a 27-year-old also from Katherine was charged with:

  • Attempted Robbery;
  • Unlawful Entry;
  • Damage to Property; and
  • Stealing.

This man was bailed and will appear at the Katherine Local Court later this month.
