Arrest – Secondary supply of alcohol – Alice Springs

A 59-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the secondary supply of alcohol in Alice Springs.

The man was arrested yesterday as a result of a joint operation involving police officers from the Southern Alcohol Policing Unit and General Duties Response.

It is alleged the man, who owns a licensed venue in Alice Springs, was using a commercial passenger vehicle service to illegally sell alcohol to members of the public.

He has been charged with five counts of Unauthorised Supply or Service of Liquor and has been bailed to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on 21 July 2020.

Acting Superintendent Peter Dash of the Crime Prevention and Engagement Division, said the secondary supply of alcohol to vulnerable people across the Northern Territory is an ongoing concern to the Northern Territory Police and community at large.

“Northern Territory Police will investigate all information provided in relation to secondary supply and continue to work to hold to account those who choose to profit from this nefarious activity,” said A/Supt Dash

“Those engaging in the secondary supply of liquor are facilitating alcohol related harm within our community.”
