Arrest - Suspicious vehicle - Woodroffe

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 68-year-old man following the investigation of a suspicious vehicle in Woodroffe.

On Wednesday 5 August 2020, police received a report of a white van following school children along Harrison Circuit. An investigation was initiated into suspicious activity in the vicinity.

On Friday 7 August 2020, a further report was received that a man parked a white van and approached a child on foot at Sirius Park. The child ran to her school and reported the incident to police.

Strike Force Trident members with the assistance of Sex Crimes Unit were able to identify the man through information provided by the public and CCTV footage.

On Thursday 14 August 2020, the man was located, arrested and charged with unlawful stalking.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said it has been a collaborative effort between police and the public to identify this man.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.

“We encourage all parents, carers and children to remember the R’s, recognise an unsafe situation, react by getting away and report it to the first person you feel safe with.”
