Arrests - Stolen vehicles and property - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have four people in custody after a series of incidents last night.

Shortly before midnight, a commercial premises in Yarrawonga was unlawfully entered and a white Toyota Landcruiser and black Mazda 3 were stolen.

Police received multiple reports of the two stolen motor vehicles driving erratically at speed around Palmerston and the rural area.

At about 12.40am, the Landcruiser was used in a ram-raid at a commercial premises in Coolalinga and a quantity of crossbows, machetes and knives were stolen.

The two vehicles were then driven to a licenced premises in Palmerston and the Mazda was used in a ram-raid of the attached bottle shop. A quantity of alcohol was stolen before the Landcruiser was used to flee.

General Duty members sighted the Landcruiser and immediately engaged in a pursuit. A co-ordinated response by police resulted in the successful deployment of a tyre deflation device which was strategically positioned with police in place.

Four males attempted to flee from the location with a 22-year-old male being immediately arrested.

The majority of the stolen items were recovered.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident and General Duties members located two 18-year-old men this morning in relation to these offences. A 13-year-old male was also located.

Commander Matt Hollamby said this is great work by police to locate the alleged offenders and recover most of the stolen goods.

“Police were able to use our tools and resources to stop any further criminal behaviour. Strike Force Trident investigations quickly brought three other people into police custody this morning.

“Investigations are continuing into the possibility of further attempted unlawful entries by this group.”
