Call for information - Criminal damage - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for information following an incident last night involving criminal damages to police vehicles and a local court in Alice Springs.

At around 11:15pm, police located several vehicles in a designated police parking bay that been subject to graffiti and had red paint splashed over them.

Police also identified that the police station had red paint on a wall and the Local Court had graffiti on the walls.

CCTV footage obtained shows three people involved in the matter. Police continue their investigation.

Acting Commander Brett Prowse said “The most frustrating aspect of this pointless damage to frontline vehicles is it results in vehicles being required to be taken off the road.  I would much prefer to have all police vehicles available to be used to keep Territorians safe, be that on our road ways or responding to calls for assistance.

“We are confident the individuals responsible for this vandalism will receive their day in court, and perhaps when they are being addressed by the Judge they can explain why they felt it was appropriate to deface the Local Court.”

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9327714
