Call for information – Stealing from a charity – Stuart Park

Police

Northern Territory Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man who may be able to assist with enquiries relating to a theft from a charity shop in Stuart Park.

On 2 October a man attended the Westralia St premises. On entering the shop he looked around briefly before returning shortly after with a removalist trolley. He then loaded the trolley with a near new condition, blue two-seater couch valued at $400 and wheeled it from the store without paying. At the time, the staff member was busy helping other customers.

Constable Emma Lacey said, “This charity assists Territorians experiencing poverty and inequality. The $400 this couch could have sold for would have been used to help families in need.”

Police would like to speak to a man who was in the store at the time. He is described as a male of Caucasian appearance in his 40s, approximately 170cm tall with a slim build and brown moustache. At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue shirt, black and orange shorts, a black cap and red sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number 9439516.
