Drug charges - Alice Springs

A South Australian man who is alleged to have transported a commercial quantity of cannabis to Central Australia, will appear before court later this month.

In February 2020, drug detection dog Yakka and detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch intercepted 13.7 kilograms of cannabis destined for supply in Alice Springs, inside a suitcase from an arriving flight from Adelaide.

On Monday 7 December 2020 a 27-year-old man in Adelaide was extradited to Alice Springs where he appeared in court on the following charges;

  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug - commercial quantity

The man was remanded in custody and will reappear before court on 18 December 2020.
