Hooning - Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police continue to receive reports of hoon driving on Roystonea Avenue, following the recent double fatal that occurred on Friday 14 February 2020.

In response to the recent reports and to combat the ongoing traffic offending, police have today deployed a mobile CCTV unit at the location to capture evidence of hoon driving.

This CCTV unit is live and will directly provide advice in real time to police patrols in the area.

Major Crash Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said “You would think that the deaths of two people at the location as a result of high speed hoon driving would be enough to dissuade ongoing traffic offending.

If these people continue to travel at high speed through the area, perform burnouts or otherwise engage in any dangerous driving, NT Police will impound vehicles and prosecute offenders accordingly.”
