Northern Territory Police have conducted an operation in Katherine targeting secondary supply of alcohol.

Last week, local police searched a number of premises resulting in the arrest of four people, aged between 50 and 75.

During the searches, police seized quantities of liquor and at one property located more than $16,000 in cash.

All four people were charged with unauthorised sale of liquor and are due to face court at a later date.

Superintendent Daniel Shean from Katherine Police Station said that, “Point of Sale Intervention has had a remarkable impact on reducing alcohol related harm in Katherine. It is disappointing that there are some in our community that seek to benefit financially from vulnerable people”.

Additionally, a 42-year-old female has been issued with a notice to appear after police conducted an RBT at Cahill’s crossing.

At around 5:20am, police stopped a Toyota Prado headed for an alcohol protected area, locating 7.5 litres of alcohol in the vehicle. The three passengers were issued with infringements for possessing alcohol in an alcohol protected area.
