Police officer assaulted - Gray

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 17-year-old male for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

At around 9:40pm on Sunday 7 June, police responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in Gray. Upon arrival police observed two males engaged in a physical altercation.

The male allegedly assaulted one of the officers; striking him to the head. The police officer suffered facial injuries.

The male was conveyed to Palmerston Watch House.

Acting Commander Sachin Sharma said “It is not acceptable. Not many people leave their homes for work expecting to be assaulted in the course of their duties. I am glad our officer is not seriously injured and I commend our members for their collective work for quickly resolving the incident without further escalation”.

The matter is under investigation.
